报告：“With some 200 new BA.2.86 sequences having been shared over the past month, it is now possible to conclude that while BA.2.86 is among the fittest known lineage it does not appear to be unambiguously the very fastest growing lineage either. That means that while BA.2.86 may well become important or even dominant in the mid-term (3-12 months) it is unlikely to have an immediate impact on the epidemic compared to the counterfactual of not existing. That is, BA.2.86 is interesting for its potential to become important in the future, but it is unlikely to cause a major change in the trajectory of the pandemic in the next few months.”
