Please could you whip up an extra illustration showing Roboto Extremo (or Delta, doesn't matter for this purpose) next to Noto Sans CJK, showing how the parametric axes allow Roboto to better match that sans CJK, just the same as the illustration here with Amstelvar?

@dberlow Is this something you want to pick the values for and then I'll just drop it in?

This is the beginning of the second example of script matching.

The First image will show Roboto-Regular [default opsz], being adjusted to match NotoSansCJK-Regular, looking something like this ;
Delta Noto 400
Text to follow.

Second image will be showing a -Bold projected to match NotoSansCJK-Bold, like this;
Delta Noto 700
Text to follow.

Development notes: it’s not possible to add adjustable Chinese axes to NotoSans in this timeframe so a stylistic match that’s possible is shown.

The specimens are composed in chrome, and typetools, at 36 point with the optical size set to the default, 14 pt.

Non-verbose Parameters are shown in blue.

Should we include a link to Laurence Penney and Irene Vlachou's Faux Foundry who are doing clever things with generating a custom variable fonts to improve the style matching of fallback fonts in CSS?

Oh, it's because it's fitting the font size to the available width. I'll fiddle the size to be consistent but hopefully not wrap at different widths.

Here are some paragraph views of the same thing.

I’ve created a broader set of examples here : https://www.icloud.com/keynote/00bkq50SkHXs06Hx-_oqFGF_Q#Roboto_&_(non-Latin)
Slide one is mixed scripts in a paragraph. Slide two shows each adjusted Roboto style vs the default Roboto.

I think this should go here: https://variablefonts.typenetwork.com/topics/scripts/variations, as additional illustrations to the poi t being made there, skip the newly made Roboto-Chinese exercise and leave the Amstelvar-Chinese demo in place.

This is in, but I can't for the life of me to get the word order right in the mixed RTL and LTR lines. I'm not experienced in mixed-direction rendering.

If anyone wants to try and fix the Hebrew/Arabic word order, the file is here and the correct sentences, as far as I know, are:
