Reporting issues - where and how

  1. If VTechWorks is down, please report it on the vtechworks Slack channel and mention @soumikg, @pmather, @dsindt and/or @keithg. You can also make a 4Help request [required for changes to production]. See VT Libraries Intranet - ITS Help Desk for instructions.

If there is an outage over 15 minutes, send a notice to the Library list serve and a follow up email when service has been reestablished.

  1. If there is any other issue, please report it on GitHub as an issue; the Repository Application Administrator will determine whether it should be routed to ITS sysadmins via the vtechworks Slack channel or 4Help.

  2. Feature requests should be added to the VTechWorks backlog in Google Drive in the "New" section at the end. These will be reviewed during the backlog grooming meeting, generally the last week of each sprint cycle.

Troubleshooting

If an item is in the repository but not indexed, it will not appear in Search, Recent submissions, nor in any collections that it belongs to. However it is possible to go to the item with the handle. If you do have a record of the handle of the item, please try going to it. If it resolves, then the issue is likely indexing. If you don't have a handle to check, that's no big deal, but it would be good to report that you weren't able to check that.
