Battlerite doesn't render character models in DX11 Mode.

Issue transferred from #664.
@Y4shin posted on 2018-08-26T12:45:19:

Technically not a supported game, but works pretty well except for that issue. Launching in DX9 mode fixes it.

PC Info: https://gist.github.com/Y4shin/3cd43dded169c4ecc738cf6899c68eae
Issue consistent across Proton 3.7-3 and 3.7-4

It's a Unity Engine game and likely requires Stream Output. Will be fixed in DXVK as soon as an extension is publicly available.

Battlerite crashes while connecting to a match after the recent update

Issue transferred from #1524.
@ogdenwebb posted on 2018-09-20T22:28:58:

Compatibility Report

  • Name of the game: Battlerite
  • Steam AppID of the game: 504370

System Information

  • GPU: GTX 650 TI Boost
  • Driver/LLVM version: nvidia 396.54
  • Kernel version: 4.18-5
  • Link to full system information: here
  • Proton version: 3.7.6

Symptoms

Today after the recent update Battlerite(i.e. 1.8.0) I can't play a match. Menu is still working well, but when I start a match or a practice the game will almost immediately crash while connecting.

NOTE: this issue is only related to Steam Play/Proton, because with Lutris 0.4.18 and wine-staging 3.16 Battlerite works fine.
Also the reddit user Lethiks confirms it here

Reproduction

  1. Run Battlerite the AppID is 504370.
  2. Select Practice -> Playground or Play -> Casual/League -> Ready
  3. The game will stuck on loading and Steam displays popup window about crash.

Same crash happens on Battlerite Royale

On my System, Battlerite crashes right after starting it. The only thing i see is little gray box requesting to send the error log to the developer. The Battlerite.exe and the rest of wine keep running.

SysInfo here

output_log.txt

Edit:
Found that my problem is related DXVK. Using the parameter PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 makes the game start.

I'm experiencing the same issues. No issues in the menus, but as soon as you enter a game, be it training or an online match, it will crash in a bad way. It just freezes up and I have to go through my process tree to find all the Wine processes that it started, to close them manually.
Works fine through regular Wine-staging 3.16.

Gonna backup sevhau and Ricaz, can confirm on all three proton versions which is currently available on Steam
3.16-4 Beta
3.7.8
3.7.8 Beta

The game was perfectly fine at <3.7.8 versions of proton.

I have managed to find a workaround for the problem with "???" instead of server ping times in settings and with crash when such a server selected.
Here is the patch that fixes it.
The absence of ISteamNetworkingSocketSerialized interface in lsteamclient caused the problem, so I've made a wrapper for it.
The compiled lsteamclient.dll.so files can be found here
Replace the default files from the proton installation with those (build32 -> lib, build64-> lib64) and everything should work.

@bot-firmfirm, thanks for the info. Same crash as of current date in Battle Royale. Latest beta of Proton (3.16-7).

Next version of Proton is said to support this, according to: #2246 (comment)
