In a most recent benchmark (unpublished) threshold decryption becomes the bottleneck after applying optimistic coin flips.

What's lost if we remove it? Or apply it only partially (for some nodes in an epoch?) Can we characterize the network assumptions under which this doesn't affect censorship-resistance?
