Description of the bug

Hello team,
I'm having issues installing ansys-mapdl-core and ansys-mapdl-reader on macOS Monterey 12.4.
Here is the setup detail:

1. Using PyCharm 2022.1.2 (Professional Edition)
2. Using Conda Environment
3. Python version 3.9.5

Please, find attached the details of the error while running "pip install ansys-mapdl-core" in 'ansys_mapdl_core.pdf' and for "pip install ansys-mapdl-reader" in 'ansys_mapdl_reader.pdf'

Summary of the errors:

1. Use conda virtual environment
2. Try to install mapdl using "pip install ansys-mapdl-core" and "pip install ansys-mapdl-reader"

At the moment, pymapdl-reader is not tested against MacOS and for sure not for MX architecture.

We might be able to fix this in the near future because there are some effort already in supporting MX, but nothing is sure.

Pinging @akaszynski for visibility.

I'm going to transfer this to the pymapdl-reader repository and leave it open as reminder.

Can I roll back to a particular version of PyAnsys? I used PyAnsys a few months ago on the same setup and configuration. However, I don't remember the version number. Do you think that might help for the time being?

I think you could install pymapdl-reader version 0.51.7 (released in 24 Nov 2021) using this link.

And then install pymadpl-core using normal pip install.

If you are looking for an older version, you need to:

1. Install the version of pymapdl-reader you want.
2. Clone the pymapdl package.
3. Edit the pyproject.tml file to decrease pymapdl-reader required version as much as you need.
4. Then install the cloned pymapdl using editable flag (pip install -e .).

I think this should fit your purpose.

Still the same error. I tried v0.51.5, v0.51.6, and v0.51.7. Still error: legacy-install-failure.
I tried pip (as mentioned above) and installing it directly from the git, I also cleaned my virtual environment and created a new one (to remove old installations), but nothing works.

It will be awesome if you guys can continue your support for macOS.
The gRPC functionality enables the execution of the PyAnsys code on a remote server even when ANSYS does not natively support macOS. It makes the flow of the code seamless, especially because you can generate synthetic data using FEM to train a Neural Network (something that I'm working on). Having PyAnsys is a blessing in that case, as I don't need to switch my development environment!
