Describe the problem

I'm having problems describing my problem, even naming it properly...

I am regularly switching between US and German keyboard layouts and may have clumsy fingers.
I "managed" to get the IDE into a mode where only the menu bar and the file tabs are present (see image for reference).
There is no more output window (only a pop up when compiling) and I can't enable the explorer, boards, etc sidebar.

It looks like this:
FullScreenMode

This is probably a feature, BUT I am unable (or too stupid) to leave this mode without restarting the IDE.
This has happened twice to me and if I was a newbie, I would probably install another IDE now.

Just to make it clear, I really appreciate your work and the progress that has been made!

This problem is just frustrating!

To reproduce

If I only knew...
It was the first start after installing on this machine and some libraries had been automatically updated.
But probably just some keys I pressed...

Expected behavior

Returning to normal on ESC pressed, or by easily accessible button, anything that doen't force me to restart the studio!

Arduino IDE version

IDE 2.0.0

Operating system

Windows

Operating system version

10

Additional context

I didn't try the nightly build because I have no idea how to reproduce.
So I will lie below ;)

Issue checklist

  • I searched for previous reports in the issue tracker
  • I verified the problem still occurs when using the latest nightly build
  • My report contains all necessary details

This state is toggled by double clicking on any tab in the main or bottom panels. I see it was added to Theia here: eclipse-theia/theia#4744

I have also accidentally triggered this and found it a very unpleasant experience. I think it is nice to provide such a capability via a keyboard shortcut and command palette command, but using a double click to trigger this state change where there is no clear way to return to the previous state is a terrible idea.
