Absolutely, I'd love to work with you guys on this. The videos can already be transcribed on Amara today, you'll see a link on each video called: You can get linked into Amara by clicking that and then subtitling a video. I'll leave this issue open for doing the web work to translate the web itself. |
That is great Brian. How can I help you with that? About the videos, yeah, we use Amara for Mozilla videos we localize too. |
They're all listed in the Mozilla Amara team videos too by the way. |
If your doubt is about using text files or not, this is not a problem. Anyway should be something that doesn't make more complicated for you to mantain all the work you have already done. |
Looks like the convention for the gettext tool for javascript strings is: And for my templates to do something like: |
So we would fork the repo and commit the gettext files? That would be easy if it works for you. |
that sounds great once I get all the strings identified |
And also, for sure, let me know if can help with any issues you have open here. |
Hi there @voylinux ! I started the process of localizing the site, and got a good chunk of it done. There will be some additional strings, but you can get started on the localization if you have time. Just clone the repo and make a copy of locales/en.js. It's a simple JSON file with English -> OtherLanguage mapping. You would just create a subfile under the locales folder for appropriate language code for spanish. |
Great news, Brian! I just forked the repo. |
Hey there, just wondering how the translations were going? Is it still being worked on? Thanks! |
Hi Brian, the person who was helping is a little bit busy now. So I am going a little bit slower that expected. But we are already on it. |
OK thanks for letting me know. Sounds great. |
@bbondy, did you consider using Transifex? It was an open source project, and still offer free plans for open source projects, much like GitHub, they say. Editing paragraphs in an JSON file is a bit cumbersome. |
I haven't heard of it, but I'm open to someone doing that. I don't have the bandwidth myself to be able to do it though. |
Hi, my name is Pablo (@voylinux) from Mozilla Hispano.
We are the spanish and latam contributors community.
We really apreciate what you are doing here. We are wondering if it is a way we can make the web available in spanish or should we clone the repo, change the text and install in our own server.
Of course we would localize the text and videos in Amara.
Do you think it is posible to make it available in the same web. We can also help coding is necessary.
Thank you for your efforts.
