I think time was come to add this high browsers supported ( https://caniuse.com/avif ) new image format which more and more you can meet on modern sites!

AVIF is definitely still early days, but a ~5 character PR to include high performance, easy to compress, lossy, but still maintains the quality, file format seems like a good addition!

P.S. Pour one out for WebP, you never got a fair shot...
