Description

Can't import user data from a brave install on another disk

Steps to Reproduce

  1. get a new boot drive and keep the old drive as data storage
  2. install brave on new boot drive
  3. try to import user data from the brave install on the old disk

Actual result:

the new install doesn't find the data on the old disk

Expected result:

the browser is able to find the data from another install on a different disk

Brave version (brave://version info)

Brave | 1.30.89 Chromium: 94.0.4606.81 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Revision | 5a03c5f1033171d5ee1671d219a59e29cf75e054-refs/branch-heads/4606@{#1320}
OS | Windows 10 Version 21H1 (Build 19043.928)

Miscellaneous Information:

I've tried manually copying the User Data folder from the old install to the new one but that didn't work and opening the application on the old disk also doesn't recognize the old data

@Peter111111111111 Have you tried using sync? brave://sync/ Copying a profile folder should also work.

the sync feature mostly worked but now the session from the old install seems to be gone and the browsing history wasn't synced oh well at least I have my bookmarks.

@Peter111111111111 Ok to close? Seems like the sync path worked for you?
