Remove Gulp, General updates

Fixing build issues with gulp and reducing the complexity of getting up and running.

• Gulp-sass update due to problem when running npm install
• Large header variation added to show more of the header image on larger screens
• Dark mode enabled utilizing prefers-color-scheme
• Vulnerability fixes from dependabot
• Making master the branch used for GitHub Pages
• added whitespace control in to make the output of the templates cleaner

I'm finally getting around to converting this damn thing to gulp. I won't miss you compass.

SUSY is also gone and was completely unnecessary.

What else can I remove/replace?

Better late than never?

I've got plans to add new features to this theme and I want to start documenting the different versions. For now, this will be version 1.0.
