Welcome to the CMacIonize wiki!
CMacIonize is a radiative transfer code that can be used to calculate the ionization equilibrium in an astrophysical fluid with a given density and temperature structure that contains sources of ionizing radiation.
The density and temperature structure can have various origins: it can be an analytical density field, but can also be the output of a hydrodynamical simulation. Similarly, the ionizing sources can be put in by hand, but can also be read in from a simulation output, or set up using some analytical prescription.
CMacIonize is based on the ionization code written by Kenneth Wood (Wood, Mathis & Ercolano (2004), but has been completely rewritten in object-oriented C++. The latest release of the code contains a benchmark problem that illustrates the validity of the code results; more benchmark problems will be added to future releases.
