Flag SubCommands in YAML?

I saw that #1974 added support for sub-commands with a flag-format. However, they don't seem to be available when ingesting YAML?

I tried the following:

[...]
subcommands:
    - web:
        about: "web subcommand"
        short_flag: W
        long_flag: web
[...]

However, the keys short_flag and long_flag are silently ignored. Meaning, cargo run -- --help shows only web as a sub-command.

I expected it to show -W, --web, web.

Yes, this is missing functionality with the yaml support and I've split this out into #3011.

With that out of the way, I'd be interested to hear more about your use of the yaml API. I want to better understand why people use each API, what they are hoping to get out of them. Mind sharing why you use it over the builder API, derive, or any other others?

I personally prefer the YAML approach due to:

• separation of concerns: it gives a quick overview without requiring to dive into actual code.
• ease of usage: it makes it quick & easy to model the possible capabilities of an app, even before actually touching any code. It's also more readable than having it embedded in code (imo).
