#3732 provides a more composable API than a lot of existing clap ones but it wasn't until the derive was updated in #3734 that we could deprecate the older APIs.
The advantage of doing the deprecations sooner than later is we switch the tests over and identify regressions in behavior. Several of those have been fixed and this includes a couple lingering ones.
