This issue was originally filed by [email protected]

I found myself repeatedly writing "bool get hasProperty() => property != null".

I propose adding some mechanism to check if a property is not null. Possible solutions:

  • "has" keyword as in "if (player has color)" <-- requires property construct in the language
  • implicit hasProperty getters (e.g. when class Player has a nullable property String color, you can do hasColor). Possibly overridable?

I suspect there is some misunderstanding here. hasX is very different from x != null. This isn't javascript, and null isn't undefined. In any case, between reflection and regular testing, there is no case for adding a special construct.
