Add Exception.stack to allow logging the stack of a caught exception

I'm writing a program that tries to recover from unexpected exceptions by catching them and continuing.

However, I would still like to log the caught exception, so that I can analyze it later.

I can't do that currently because there is no way of getting the stack trace of the "throw" site out of an exception object.

An example of what I want is:

try {
 ...
} catch (Exception e) {
  log("Caught exception $e: Stack trace: ${e.stack}");
}

For what it is worth, this is for a program that is playing a game in a competition. For this kind of program it is better to keep playing, even with possibly buggy behavior, than to crash.

I'm not sure what you're asking for. If you want resumable exceptions, we're sorry, we can't implement that on top of Javascript. If all you want is a stack trace, that is already possible:

try {
 ...
} catch (Exception e, t) {
  log("Caught exception $e: Stack trace: $t");
}

I didn't know about the optional second argument to the catch clause.

That second argument, that provides the stack trace, is sufficient for what I want to do.
