The endpoint url for AWS China follows a slightly different convention to the rest of the world and the logic that pulls regionId out of the url doesn't work properly for China. The url is....

https://ec2.cn-north-1.amazonaws.com.cn

as opposed to

http://ec2.us-east-1.amazonaws.com
