Talon configs for Mac, Windows, and Linux. Very much in progress. This is also intended to work with both Dragon Naturally Speaking and wav2letter.
Clone repo into ~/.talon/user

Alternatively, access the directory by right clicking the Talon icon in taskbar, clicking Scripting>Open ~/talon, and navigating to user.
The folder structure should look like:

If using wav2letter, extract the entire contents of the tarball (found pinned in Talon's @beta slack channel) in ~/.talon
. The resulting tree should be:

Note: Talon for Windows should be placed in the Program Files directory (or another 'secure' directory): C:\Program Files\talon
Talon has been signed and utilizes uiAccess for several goodies: this will allow Talon to work with applications that are run as admin.

Use the “help context,” "help active," and “help alphabet” commands to browse available commands. Available commands can change with the application or window title that has focus.
It's recommended to learn the alphabet first, then get familiar with the keys, symbols, and formatters.

Try using formatters by saying e.g. “snake hello world,” which will insert hello_world
Mutliple formatters can be used togther, e.g. “dubstring snake hello world,” which will insert "hello_world"
Once you have the basics of text input down, try copying some code from one window to another.
After that, explore using ordinal repetition for easily repeating a command without pausing (e.g., saying “go up fifth” will go up five lines), window switching (“focus chrome”), and moving around in your text editor of choice.
If you use vim, just start with the numbers and alphabet, otherwise look at generic_editor.talon as well at jetbrains, vscode, and any other integrations).
Specific programming languages may be activated by voice commands, or via title tracking.
Activating languages via commands will enable the commands globally, e.g. they'll work in any application. This will also disable the title tracking method (code.language in .talon files) until the "clear language modes" voice command is used.

By default, title tracking activates coding languages in supported applications such as VSCode and Notepad++.
To enable title tracking for your application:
- The active filename (including extension) must be included in the editor's title
- Implement the required Talon-defined actions to correctly extract the filename and extension from the programs's title. See https://github.com/knausj85/knausj_talon/blob/69d0207c873e860002b137f985dd7cb001183a47/apps/vscode/vscode.py#L12 for an example.
Python, C#, Talon and javascript language support is currently broken up into ~four contexts in an attempt to define a common grammar where possible between languages
• operators.talon - operator commands
• comment.talon - commenting commands
• programming.talon - function, loop commands, etc
• {your-language-here}.talon - for implementation of the actions for the above, and any language-specific stuff

For Mac OS X's Finder, run this command in terminal to display the full path in the title.

For the Windows command line, the "refresh title" command will force the title to the current directory, and all directory commands ("follow 1") will automatically update the title. The

.talon files may be used for
- implementing actions
- defining the overall context for commands and actions
- implementing voice commands
There is a "header" section in .talon files that defines the context for the commands. This is everything above the hyphen/dash in the .talon file.

The above restricts the commands:
- Linux or Windows OS; and
- An app name of Slack, slack.exe, or Teams.
Any commands would not be available on Mac OS, for example.
You can also filter by window title.

In this case the definitions would only be active for the Gnome-terminal app with a window title that contains emacs. The /'s around emacs mean it's a regular expression, so you can do all kinds of matching. This should be done sparingly in scripts you intend to share.
You can get the name or bundle for the app via these actions:

Going forward, all voice commands will be implemented in .talon files.

You can perform many actions with a single command, as below:

will press left three times.
With python scripts, you may declare and implement new actions and captures.
Modules declare actions and captures; actions may have a default implementation. Actions and captures then can be combined to compose extremely useful voice commands in .talon files.
Actions are the functionality assigned to a voice command, e.g. the action for the command "new tab" would implement opening the tab.
All user-defined actions in this repository are prefixed with "user." by talon

In the above example, bare_action()
is declared, but not implemented. On the other hand, capitalize()
has a default implementation that could be overridden for some contexts.
Actions may be implemented in a .talon file, allowing the implementation to be customized per-context as needed. The below example for bare_action()
is active only (1) on Linux and (2) when the Slack application has focus.

This makes actions very reusable, particularly across OSes, applications, and programming languages. In this way, you could define a single command that works across all programming languages, etc.
For example, window_management.talon leverages this ability to redefine actions per context to make voice commands that do the right thing regardless of operating system (voice commands on the left and actions on the right):

These Talon-declared app actions are then defined per-operating system in separate OS-specific .talon files:

The voice commands themselves will now work regardless of operating system. For example, "window open" will use cmd-n
when using mac and ctrl-n
when using windows or linux.
Note that if you attempt to use an action in a context that has no implementation for the action, you will see warnings in the Talon log.
Captures must be declared in a module, and do not currently support having a default implementation within the module like actions. This is coming soon.

The above declares a 'formatters' capture that returns a list. The module also declares a list/mapping of the formatters to capture (snake, camel, etc). These mappings can be static, as in formatters.py, or dynamic, as in switcher.py, which is used to switch between running applications).
To implement a capture, you must create a context in python. Note that contexts are anonymous.

When used in .talon, this capture will provide a list of words matching any the module's 'formatters' list defined above. The result can then be provided to another action.
You may define other useful captures by combining captures too. For example, the below capture will provide formatted text for commands such as "allcaps dubstring something interesting" => "SOMETHING INTERESTING" -
