This is a:

  • documentation update
  • bug fix with no breaking changes
  • new functionality
  • a breaking change

All pull requests from community contributors should target the main branch (default).

Description & motivation

  • Explain in more detail how a contributor can get from A to Z
  • Put the instructions in a conventional CONTRIBUTING.md file
  • Align with patterns and wording within dbt-core

  • I have added an entry to CHANGELOG.md
