Expected Differences

These are changes to the main_v11.1 branch for inclusion in a bugfix 11.1.1 version. Note that these are the same changes as #2692, but for main_v11.1 rather than develop.

  No documentation changes, but I did update the contributor's guide with details about the use of temporary files in MET for version 12.0.0.
