This page lists all the items that were available in the original SimTower game. If you remember any additional information, please feel free to edit this page and add your knowledge!

I presume you are listing the functionality as-is? Some of the limitations seem kind of arbitrary, even for the preliminary "ST clone" release... fabianschuiki: The functionality is how I remember it from the original game. I think most of the limitations is due to somewhat poor programming of ST. I'm actually tempted to remove most of the bad constraints, so the game may actually evolve a bit!

From left to right:

  • Lobby
    • $5,000 per tile
    • Cursor is 4x1, but can be extended in 1 tile increments
    • Indestructible
    • Only placeable on floor 1 and multiples of 15
    • Ground lobby has alternate 2-floor and 3-floor versions, with proportional cost, maintenance, and effect increases. These also enable the placement of 2 and 3-floor stair and escalator variants. (maybe these should each be listed under separate items?)
  • Floor
    • $500 per tile
    • Indestructible
    • Automatically constructed behind any other item
    • Must be built directly over ground or other floored areas
    • Once a floor tile exists on a floor level, all further construction will automatically fill in the gap between the two areas with floor tiles
  • Stairs
    • $5'000
    • 8x2
    • May be stacked vertically, since only the lower left 4x1 and upper right 4x1 square is covered.
  • Escalator
    • $20'000
    • 8x2
    • Requires 3 stars
    • May also be stacked.
    • Can only connect lobby, empty floor, and retail zones (restaurant, fast food, retail shop, movie theatre?, party hall?).
  • Elevator
    • Standard
      • $200,000 per shaft, $80,000 per car, 4 tiles wide
      • Maximum length: 30 floors
    • Service
      • $100,000 per shaft, $50,000 per car, 4 tiles wide
      • Requires 2 stars
      • Only carries housekeeping staff
    • Express
      • $400,000 per shaft, $150,000 per car, 6 tiles wide
      • Requires 3 stars
      • Maximum length: 100 floors, only stops at lobbies and underground floors
  • Office
    • $40,000
    • 9x1
    • Above-ground only
    • Attracts office tenants who pay quarterly rent. May have up to 6 workers.
    • Generates office noise, which may bother hotel/condo tenants (There is some kind of area of effect of the noise, with items further away than a few tiles not being influenced by the office.)
  • Hotel
    • Hotel rooms are rented nightly for a player-set rate.
    • Single Room
      • $20,000
      • 4x1
      • Requires 2 stars
      • Can hold 1 person
    • Double Room
      • $50,000
      • 6x1
      • Requires 3 stars
    • Suite
      • $100,000
      • 10x1
      • Requires 3 stars
  • Fast Food
    • $100'000
    • 16x1
    • Open during the day and evening, attracts customers around mealtimes
    • Pays daily income based on number of patrons, office workers go either here or to the lobby for lunch.
  • Restaurant
    • $200,000
    • Requires 3 stars
    • Open evening/night
    • Pays daily income based on number of patrons
    • Customers are condo tenants, hotel guests and external people.
  • Retail Shop
    • $100,000
    • Requires 3 stars
    • Pays quarterly income based on number of patrons
  • Movie Theater
    • $500,000
    • 31x2 (first 7 are the screen tiles)
    • Requires 3 stars
    • Pays daily income based on number of patrons
    • Customer rate depends on kind of movie and how recently it premiered. Info screen provides option to purchase films (new release or classic)
      • New Release: $300,000
      • Average Movie: $150,000
    • Customers will also visit nearby commercial items (Shops, Fast Foods, Restaurants, …)
  • Party Hall
    • $500,000
    • 24x2
    • Requires 3 stars
    • Can hold events in the afternoon. Pays daily income if a party is celebrated.
    • Visited by hotel guests and probably a small percentage of external people.
  • Parking Ramp
    • $50,000
    • Underground only
    • Requires 3 stars
    • Must be stacked vertically connecting to ground floor to function
  • Parking Space
    • $3,000
    • Underground only
    • Requires 3 stars
    • Must be directly connected by parking spaces to a functioning parking ramp on the same floor to function
    • Satisfies parking demand generated by office and hotel suites
  • Recycling Center
    • $500,000
    • Underground only
    • Requires 3 stars
    • Is emptied daily at 7 am
  • Metro Station
    • $1,000,000
    • Underground only
    • Construction also creates metro line spanning bottom floor of station. Subsequently nothing can be placed on or below this floor. (This limitation should probably be removed, as it is really annoying.)
    • Indestructible
    • Requires 4 stars
    • Commuters only shop/eat underground or on the lower levels
    • Maybe this item should be extended such that workers may actually arrive either through the lobby or the metro.
  • Cathedral
    • $3,000,000
    • Can only be placed on floor 100
    • Indestructible
    • Requires 5 stars
    • Holds a mass on weekends, after reaching 15,000 inhabitants (not counting hotel guests), a wedding is celebrated, reaching tower level
  • Security
    • $100,000
    • Indestructible (Should be destructible IMHO)
    • Requires 2 stars
    • Satisfies tenant demand for security.
    • In the event of a disaster, security workers can fight fires or search for bombs
  • Medical Center
    • $500,000
    • Requires 3 stars
    • Satisfies tenant demand for health services
    • Seems not to be visited frequently by people. A few external patients.
  • Housekeeping
    • $50,000
    • Indestructible
    • Requires 2 stars
    • Generates 6 housekeepers, which will clean hotel rooms daily, improving tenant eval and preventing cockroaches.
  • Condo
    • $80,000
    • Sold once for a profit.
  • SECOM
    • What is this? Did this actually appear in the game?
    • It is the security room in Yoot Tower, I would not include it.

Easter Eggs

When it is Christmas Day or the end of a Sim year a Santa Claus in his sleigh flies over the tower.
