Chat? #6

Lets just do pure Gno for now, for focus for Gno. A Gno instance could be private, so the following would be useful either on chain or off chain. type ChatMessage struct {
OwnerID
CreateTime
Text string
Attachments []Attachment
}
type Attachment struct {
Type string
Data []byte
} And the attachment type could be "text/cipher". |
This is what I was hoping for. It will take me some time to put together, but seems super-worthy. Will probably package this in a device image that boots up and gives user Gno-- I find that this helps more people to use things. |
reviewing realms.go |
The big issue with chat is that it's unrealistic to require signing (and ledger verification of) for every chat message. There ought to be root-of-trust/CA like system where one can delegate some trust to another crypto system for messages (and other things like limited sends). |
definitely, makes a lot of sense. |
yes |
We now have Discord, I suggest to close this. Do not hesitate to reopen or open a new issue if you think that we should keep discussing something on the topic. |
Oops, reread the issue, and finally I think that it's not addressed by Discord. -> reopening @faddat could you change the issue title to make it more obvious about what it is, please? |

Projects usually have some kind of "hub" chat.
There are a whole bunch of advantages and disadvantages to each, but if we're going our own way....
What about a text-based, secure P2P chat designed to run on Raspberry Pi computers for now, and soon, on Minimus machines.
I think that willingness to run a single board computer (or a VM, or even a native go app on your laptop, I suppose) would be a super-great filter.
Yeah, we're not on slack/discord.
wdyt?
Ofc, in the long term, seems like the chat would actually run in gno, with messages being delivered to realms and decrypted with a private key held by users/devs. I think.
The text was updated successfully, but these errors were encountered:
