Thanks for opening a pull request 🙂

New features will only be merged in 4.1 and later, not 4.0.x (which only contains bug fixes as per the release policy). This is to ensure stability and minimize regressions in patch releases.

This means you should keep a PR open on master, but not on 4.0. Also, in most cases, bugfix PRs can be cherry-picked to 4.0 without conflicts, so you don't need to open a second PR for those (as we can handle this cherry-picking).
