switch display to a URL via new mqtt command?

I would like to be able to send an MQTT command from HA that would switch the display over to something like a snapshot image or RTSP stream of my video doorbell for say 20 seconds, and then resume slideshow. I think I can figure out how to add extra mqtt commands based off the existing code, but not sure about setting display of RTSP stream, anyone have thoughts on this?

I would do this outside of picframe. Have a look at https://github.com/helgeerbe/picframe-overlay as proof of concept.
This is an electron application (chrome browser) running invisible on top of picframe.

All you need is a proxy to convert your RTSP Stream to html5 like https://github.com/Streamedian/html5_rtsp_player.

This looks like it would be very useful for also being able to pop up stuff like my calendar, etc on demand. I will tinker.

It's been a while. Test it, I would say. I assume that you are using Buster and not Bullseye. To use pic frame-overlay you have to run the Xserver. Easiest way is to boot desktop.
