Pulling in #1490 for testing and modification. Removes the original tests as they're using Rails 7 fixtures. Adds a changelog entry Co-authored-by: chaadow <[email protected]>

with the development of rails 8 that has already started in May 2024
I think we can add support for rails 8. ( I do personally maintain a production app that's on rails
8.0.0.alphaaka master branch of rails repo)
