NOTE: This article is my study note. If is neither a tutorial nor a guide. Please read it carefully. If I can learn a bit from marketing open source project for my project, I would share my experience with you in this article.

Case Study

Pulse Sensor: an Open Source Heart-rate Sensor that Rocks

Pulse Sensor: an Open Source Heart-rate Sensor that Rocks[2]:

  • There are 229 backer at $25, and which is the highest percentage of all. The pledge is as the following.
Pulse Sensor Kit (with domestic USA Shipping), Software & Source Code, PDF User-Guide, and "Special Thanks" on PulseSensor.com
  • There are 82 backer at $38, and which is the highest percentage of all. The pledge is the same with the pledge above, except that it's with international shipping.

Lessons:

  1. Separate domestic shipping pledge from international shipping pledge
  2. The pledge of an open source project consists (basically) of the kit, software and source code and user guide.
  3. Show your deep thanks for supporting your project. The "Special Thanks" example of this project.
