Keyboard to escape or close the chat box #750

I would like to be able to close the chat box without using the mouse, this is before or after getting any reponse from the chat. I would like to be able to do this with the escape keyboard.

You can set a shortcut at chrome://extensions/shortcuts

I had not seen this but it also does not let me set either my escape keyboard or ^X, which I would like to use and have it toggle the chat behavior.
