Few issues found while working on this, which made the issue bigger:

  • initrd/kernel for alpine werent updated with immucore as they are separated packages
  • building those packages broke due to arches not being taken into consideration
  • alpine broken due to the machine-id changes in kairos
  • Fixes to tests due to the kairos-agent taking over elemental and run stages
  • systemctl running in several stages under non-systemctl systems
  • agent/webui sharing the same pid file -> alpine broken on boot
  • alpine not saving the machine-id properly

All of those should be fixed shortly in the attached PR
