Prometheus/Telemetry metrics for centraldashboard

Opening this issue to track adding prometheus metrics to the central dashboard.

What metrics would make sense for the central dashboard? Are the only metrics that make sense telemetry metrics; e.g. number of requests? If so should we rely on ISTIO to collect those metrics?
