PowerToys Settings and some extensions will not initialise #28332
Comments
Hi, PowerToys Settings needs to be able to at least write to your local user folder, which is "%localappdata%\Microsoft\PowerToys" Are you able to ask the system administrator to uninstall the current installation? A User installer might work better for you under your current scenario. /needinfo |
Thanks for the reply, I've managed to get temporary admin access and I'm uninstalling, will be having a crack at A user install and seeing if that helps me. |

Attached is the bug report from PowerToys. I am unable to open settings and can only access a couple of the features of PowerToys such as Power Rename and some of the hotkey actions with Mouse Utilities. I am unable to open the updater and I cannot uninstall due to the admin permissions on my computer. I have also discovered that I am unable to change any files in the C drive install location without admin permissions.
✔️ Expected Behavior
PowerToys settings to open.
❌ Actual Behavior
It does not open or give me an error.
