Download only videos....

HI Guys..

I want to download every video from an instagram page. Is there any way I can make gallery-dl skip all images & download only videos :?

Uh, I think this is not possible as of right now..

I mean, there is the include option for Instagram, which could be set to ["reels", "stories"] ..

But this does not include the normal "post" type, which can be videos as well, as far as I know.

Not sure if this is actually possible currently with the Instagram API.
Should be possible in theory, I think this is something you can do with Tumblr, for example.

Going through a user's Reels or IGTV should only return videos:

https://www.instagram.com/USER/reels/
https://www.instagram.com/USER/channel/

And then there's also --filter to remove unwanted results.
--filter "extension == 'mp4'" should work for Instagram.

Just as a note of caution: Instagram could disable/ban your account when downloading with the defaults from v1.18.4 (#1835). You might want to use a relatively high sleep and/or sleep-request time.

What value(s) would you recommend? Also, why not set higher default values in the first place?

The default sleep-request value was increased from 5 to 8 seconds quite recently 7b029df, and will be even higher and randomized in the next version e9bf8d2. I'd recommend 10.0 or higher for sleep-request to be on the safe side and maybe 1.0 for sleep.

The report from #1835 might not have used the latest version, and stories had their sleep-request default only at 1s for some reason, so just a plain 8s could be enough. I honestly don't know.
