Citing MOM6 #1607
Comments
Sorry for the very late reply, this ended up becoming a longer discussion than any of us expected. Unfortunately there is no ideal reference citation for MOM6, but the Adcroft et al 2019 appendix is probably the best option at the moment. Thanks for the suggestion of the .cff file. When we get a better handle on this problem, we will look into preparing one for the repository. |
For the vertical Lagrangian remap method used in MOM6, you can cite Griffies,
Adcroft, and Hallberg
<https://agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1029/2019MS001954>
(2020).

Thanks heaps @marshallward and @StephenGriffies , appreciate you taking the time to consider the appropriate citation approach. I will add the Adcroft 2019 reference to capture model description. Ideally we'd be able to cite the software itself as well as descriptive papers to better recognise those who write code not papers, for now this will do. Good luck, I imagine it's a big problem for a code base like MOM6! |
Hi folks,
Apologies if I'm just missing something really obvious... but just wondering if it's viable to include a citation.cff file in this repo so it's easy to find the proper way to cite MOM6 in data management plans, papers etc., beyond just pointing to the github?
Thanks!
