a potential default fallback subdriver implementing UPS.PowerSummary (the only common thing to all HID/PDC compliant devices, due to the ACPI mapping and integrated power managements...) could be a good idea, for a minimul but yet sufficient protection !
Note that would just be the same as upower and friends, but through nut.

This should remain a temporary fallback, in case of HID/PDC devices detected with no driver claiming, and no explicit driver parameter to use 'minimal'.
A syslog msg should ask the user the send a pre-formated dump, including:

  • USB VendorID / ProductID
  • HID data dump
