Can't install uBlock on Edge #92
Comments
I've run into this issue before. The problem is that the extension is in a corrupted state.
Once you've completed the above steps to manually uninstall uBlock Origin, install it again from the Store. I hope this helps. Let me know if anything is unclear! |
I've been having the same problem on a particular computer, with all users on that computer. Other computers are able to install it OK, and the problem computer is able to install other apps OK. Followed reunicorn's steps, no luck, have also tried wsreset and a few other things. Whatever file gets downloaded, it seems to be too small to be the correct download. I wonder if my machine is downloading the wrong file, or if there is some webcache on the machine with a corrupted installation file. |
Unable to install on latest Fall Creators Update build 16299, Edge version 41.16299.0.0. I've removed it completely and tried to install but the install finishes with errors, which requires a repair but that doesn't finish properly either. |
This is a tricky issue as it's to do with Microsoft's store and (most likely) not uBlock. The reason I say this is that it installs perfectly well for most people. I'm going to leave the issue open for now to try to gather more information, but I think the Microsoft devs will have to look into it. |
Having the same issue. Getting the message "This app encountered an error. Please reinstall it to repair". Yet store displays same error message every time I try to reinstall. Please keep me updated. |
I'm having the same problem with uBlock Origin. I had uBlock installed for a long time and it worked good until today. It said that the installation was corrupted. After uninstall and a new install from the store, it says the app encountered a problem and need to reinstall again. I have retried several times (also after reboot), but the error remains. |
@hjlopes @tlsg1 @mariojuniorjp @tarund @NekaSarano That's the exact issue I had before, and the steps I outlined above (uninstalling via PowerShell) fixed it. Have you tried following those steps, and if so, did it resolve the issue? Note: the "installation was corrupted, please reinstall" issue, which the 5 of you seem to have, is different from the issue @sliverstorm had, i.e. not being able to even install the extension in the first place. As they correctly pointed out, the steps I gave won't fix that issue. But from my experience it WILL fix the Corrupted Installation issue. So I recommend you try the steps and post your success/failure results here so I and others can benefit too! Thanks. |
Did not fix. Uninstall went well but still getting error; "this app
encountered a problem. Please reinstall it to repair."

Me too, it did not fix it. Uninstall went well but after reinstalling it I still get the error: "this app encountered a problem. Please reinstall it to repair.”
I have retried several times but no luck.
Until this is fixed I have now installed another alternative Edge plugin, but it’s not so efficient and good as uBlock, so I hope this problem will get resolved soon.

@reunicorn I had done this before. It does not solve the problem. :'( |
Today I got and installed the latest MS update "March 22, 2018—KB4089848 (OS Build 16299.334)": After rebooting the PC to finalize the MS update, uBlock Original now installs without problems! |
The latest creators update really pushed Microsoft Edge, so I thought I'd try it out. It's actually been pretty good, except that I've been having issues installing uBlock. When I try it says "This app encountered a problem. Please reinstall it to repair". But reinstalling does nothing to fix it.
