Thank you @hellais for designing this -- it's great! :)

I have proposed some copy edits via my latest commit.

My feedback on this new landing page:

  1. Perhaps we can include OONI partner logos on the landing page? I'd suggest adding their logos at the end -- before "Friends and Sponsors" -- under a "OONI partners" heading.

  2. Re-name "Friends and Sponsors" to just "Sponsors", and only include funder logos underneath (to distinguish between funders and collaborators).

  3. Move the logos of "friends" to a new "Friends" section -- perhaps between "OONI partners" and "Sponsors"? In the "friends" section, we can also include other community friends/alliances, such as CAIDA/IODA, Censored Planet, etc. (if they agree) -- along with M-Lab, Greenhost, etc.

  4. Add missing funders to the "Sponsors" section, such as MOSS.

  5. OONI Explorer banner on the landing page: I'd recommend replacing this image with the one included in the current version of the OONI website, since that version has more dimensions and looks more impressive imo.

  6. Can we change the colors a bit so that the landing page looks more professional (and less like a child's website)...? :)

  7. Missing things that we should link to (from the landing page):

  • OONI social media: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram
  • OONI Run: Perhaps we can add a third banner for this (under "News"), including an image, a few sentences, and a button (similarly to OONI Probe and OONI Explorer above)?
  1. It would be nice to link to the Glossary as well from the landing page (perhaps in the footer, or generally somewhere discrete).

  2. I think the size of "Global community uncovering internet censorship" is a bit too huge. Can we please make it smaller?

  3. In general, can we maintain the font/character size used in the current version of the OONI website? It feels like the writing in the mockup is a bit too big...

Thanks for your feedback @agrabeli .

I fully agree with the points you raise in 1-4, but I think adding the missing sponsors and separating sponsors from funders is a separate task from the design of the websites and I am not sure it should be blocking on us moving forward with the websites.
This task is tracked in this other issue you filed: #308.

I have taken note of your feedback here: #308 (comment).

Done!

Yes I agree with this. I asked some friends to look into this, but I will also do some more experimentation with this and share some variations for it.

Missing things that we should link to (from the landing page):

Yes the footer is entirely missing still.

It would be nice to link to the Glossary as well from the landing page (perhaps in the footer, or generally somewhere discrete).

Yes it will be linked following the latest iteration of it.

I think the size of "Global community uncovering internet censorship" is a bit too huge. Can we please make it smaller?

I will try making it a little bit smaller, but I think that the font hierarchy is quite good.

In general, can we maintain the font/character size used in the current version of the OONI website? It feels like the writing in the mockup is a bit too big...

In general it is a bit of a trend in web dev to go for fonts which are a bit more accessible and which will work well also on smaller devices. I think the font sizes of our old website were way too small.

I will see if I can make some tweaks to it, but I think how it is now is quite good actually.

Here are two alternative color schemes for the landing page, which I think make it look a little bit more "professional" in a way
