Setting up a world border visualizer

Chunky Border comes with a powerful client-side and server-side border visualizer. These visualizers function similarly to their vanilla counterpart in that they allow players to see the custom world border you have set up. This is helpful especially when your border isn't square, as the vanilla game will not render these borders in-game.

The border visualizers in Chunky Border are disabled by default, so unless you add one you will not see the border.

Client-side border visualizer

This border visualizer requires no configuration on the server, however players must opt-in by installing the Chunky and Chunky Border mods using a Fabric client.

Once installed, nothing needs to be configured. Simply join a server with Chunky Border installed, and any borders configured on that server will be displayed.

Borders visualized using the client-side visualizer will look almost identical to the usual vanilla world border, making this the ideal option for mod packs and players who want the best experience possible with Chunky Border.

Server-side border visualizer

This border visualizer must be configured server-side, but does not require players to install any mods (however, if they do they will see the client-side border instead).

To enable it, simply set visualizer-enabled to true in the configuration. It is also possible to change the visualizer range and color, although the defaults are recommended for the best balance of performance and gameplay.

Borders visualized using the server-side visualizer will use particles. The shape and pattern is similar to the vanilla world border, making it feel familiar for players, however the range is limited due to the performance impact of using particles. Due to this, the client-side visualizer is typically recommended, and many servers may opt to leave this disabled.
