Please enable CONFIG_CRYPTO_XTS

zcat /proc/config.gz | grep CONFIG_CRYPTO_XTS

It is the only reason I need to keep build my own kernels for the raspberrypi.

commit e396900 upstream.

Add a drm_sysfs_connector_remove call when we destroy the panel to make
sure the connector node in sysfs gets deleted.

This is required for proper unload and re-load of this driver as a
module. Without this, we would get a warning at re-load time like so:

When I used netdev_for_each_lower_dev in commit bad5316 ("vrf:
remove slave queue and private slave struct") I thought that it acts
like netdev_for_each_lower_private and can be used to remove the current
device from the list while walking, but unfortunately it acts more like
netdev_for_each_lower_private_rcu and doesn't allow it. The difference
is where the "iter" points to, right now it points to the current element
and that makes it impossible to remove it. Change the logic to be
similar to netdev_for_each_lower_private and make it point to the "next"
element so we can safely delete the current one. VRF is the only such
user right now, there's no change for the read-only users.

Here's what can happen now:

If iriap_register_lsap() fails to allocate memory, self->lsap is
set to NULL. However, none of the callers handle the failure and
irlmp_connect_request() will happily dereference it:

The bug seems to have been around since forever.

There's more problems with missing error checks in iriap_init() (and
indeed all of irda_init()), but that's a bigger problem that needs
very careful review and testing. This patch will fix the most serious
bug (as it's easily reached from unprivileged userspace).

I have tested my patch with a reproducer.

If iriap_register_lsap() fails to allocate memory, self->lsap is

…iscsi session

[ Upstream commit 57c46e9 ]

A number of hangs have been reported against the target driver; they are
due to the fact that multiple threads may try to destroy the iscsi session
at the same time. This may be reproduced for example when a "targetcli
iscsi/iqn.../tpg1 disable" command is executed while a logout operation is
underway.

When this happens, two or more threads may end up sleeping and waiting for
iscsit_close_connection() to execute "complete(session_wait_comp)".  Only
one of the threads will wake up and proceed to destroy the session
structure, the remaining threads will hang forever.

Note that if the blocked threads are somehow forced to wake up with
complete_all(), they will try to free the same iscsi session structure
destroyed by the first thread, causing double frees, memory corruptions
etc...

With this patch, the threads that want to destroy the iscsi session will
increase the session refcount and will set the "session_close" flag to 1;
then they wait for the driver to close the remaining active connections.
When the last connection is closed, iscsit_close_connection() will wake up
all the threads and will wait for the session's refcount to reach zero;
when this happens, iscsit_close_connection() will destroy the session
structure because no one is referencing it anymore.

…iscsi session

[ Upstream commit 57c46e9 ]

A number of hangs have been reported against the target driver; they are
due to the fact that multiple threads may try to destroy the iscsi session
at the same time. This may be reproduced for example when a "targetcli
iscsi/iqn.../tpg1 disable" command is executed while a logout operation is
underway.

When this happens, two or more threads may end up sleeping and waiting for
iscsit_close_connection() to execute "complete(session_wait_comp)".  Only
one of the threads will wake up and proceed to destroy the session
structure, the remaining threads will hang forever.

Note that if the blocked threads are somehow forced to wake up with
complete_all(), they will try to free the same iscsi session structure
destroyed by the first thread, causing double frees, memory corruptions
etc...

With this patch, the threads that want to destroy the iscsi session will
increase the session refcount and will set the "session_close" flag to 1;
then they wait for the driver to close the remaining active connections.
When the last connection is closed, iscsit_close_connection() will wake up
all the threads and will wait for the session's refcount to reach zero;
when this happens, iscsit_close_connection() will destroy the session
structure because no one is referencing it anymore.

This happens because at btrfs_mkdir() we call d_instantiate_new() while
holding a transaction handle, which results in the following call chain:

  btrfs_mkdir()
     trans = btrfs_start_transaction(root, 5);

     d_instantiate_new()
        smack_d_instantiate()
            __vfs_setxattr()
                btrfs_setxattr_trans()
                   btrfs_start_transaction()
                      start_transaction()
                         WARN_ON()
                           --> a tansaction start has TRANS_EXTWRITERS
                               set in its type
                         h->orig_rsv = h->block_rsv
                         h->block_rsv = NULL

     btrfs_end_transaction(trans)

Besides the warning triggered at start_transaction, we set the handle's
block_rsv to NULL which may cause some surprises later on.

So fix this by making btrfs_setxattr_trans() not start a transaction when
we already have a handle on one, stored in current->journal_info, and use
that handle. We are good to use the handle because at btrfs_mkdir() we did
reserve space for the xattr and the inode item.

This happens because at btrfs_mkdir() we call d_instantiate_new() while
holding a transaction handle, which results in the following call chain:

  btrfs_mkdir()
     trans = btrfs_start_transaction(root, 5);

     d_instantiate_new()
        smack_d_instantiate()
            __vfs_setxattr()
                btrfs_setxattr_trans()
                   btrfs_start_transaction()
                      start_transaction()
                         WARN_ON()
                           --> a tansaction start has TRANS_EXTWRITERS
                               set in its type
                         h->orig_rsv = h->block_rsv
                         h->block_rsv = NULL

     btrfs_end_transaction(trans)

Besides the warning triggered at start_transaction, we set the handle's
block_rsv to NULL which may cause some surprises later on.

So fix this by making btrfs_setxattr_trans() not start a transaction when
we already have a handle on one, stored in current->journal_info, and use
that handle. We are good to use the handle because at btrfs_mkdir() we did
reserve space for the xattr and the inode item.

This happens because at btrfs_mkdir() we call d_instantiate_new() while
holding a transaction handle, which results in the following call chain:

  btrfs_mkdir()
     trans = btrfs_start_transaction(root, 5);

     d_instantiate_new()
        smack_d_instantiate()
            __vfs_setxattr()
                btrfs_setxattr_trans()
                   btrfs_start_transaction()
                      start_transaction()
                         WARN_ON()
                           --> a tansaction start has TRANS_EXTWRITERS
                               set in its type
                         h->orig_rsv = h->block_rsv
                         h->block_rsv = NULL

     btrfs_end_transaction(trans)

Besides the warning triggered at start_transaction, we set the handle's
block_rsv to NULL which may cause some surprises later on.

So fix this by making btrfs_setxattr_trans() not start a transaction when
we already have a handle on one, stored in current->journal_info, and use
that handle. We are good to use the handle because at btrfs_mkdir() we did
reserve space for the xattr and the inode item.

During our testing of WFM200 module over SDIO on i.MX6Q-based platform,
we discovered a memory corruption on the system, tracing back to the wfx
driver. Using kfence, it was possible to trace it back to the root
cause, which is hw->max_rates set to 8 in wfx_init_common,
while the maximum defined by IEEE80211_TX_TABLE_SIZE is 4.

This causes array out-of-bounds writes during updates of the rate table,
as seen below:

We can see that "Short form of movsx, dst_reg = (s8,s16,s32)src_reg" in
include/linux/filter.h, additionally, for BPF_ALU64 the value of the
destination register is unchanged whereas for BPF_ALU the upper 32 bits
of the destination register are zeroed, so it should clear the upper 32
bits for BPF_ALU.

[root@linux fedora]# echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/core/bpf_jit_enable
[root@linux fedora]# modprobe test_bpf

Before:
test_bpf: #81 ALU_MOVSX | BPF_B jited:1 ret 2 != 1 (0x2 != 0x1)FAIL (1 times)
test_bpf: #82 ALU_MOVSX | BPF_H jited:1 ret 2 != 1 (0x2 != 0x1)FAIL (1 times)

After:
test_bpf: #81 ALU_MOVSX | BPF_B jited:1 6 PASS
test_bpf: #82 ALU_MOVSX | BPF_H jited:1 6 PASS

By the way, the bpf selftest case "./test_progs -t verifier_movsx" can
also be fixed with this patch.

popcornmix pushed a commit that referenced this issue Nov 5, 2024
pmd_leaf()/pud_leaf() only implies a pmd_present()/pud_present() check on
some architectures. We really should check for
pmd_present()/pud_present() first.

This should explain the report we got on ppc64 (which has
CONFIG_PGTABLE_HAS_HUGE_LEAVES set in the config) that triggered:
	VM_WARN_ON_ONCE(pmd_leaf(pmdp_get_lockless(pmdp)));

Likely we had a PMD migration entry for which pmd_leaf() did not trigger.
We raced with restoring the PMD migration entry, and suddenly saw a
pmd_leaf(). In this case, pte_offset_map_lock() saved us from more
trouble, because it rechecks the PMD value, but we would not have
processed the migration entry -- which is not too bad because the only
user of FW_MIGRATION is KSM for unsharing, and KSM only applies to small
folios.

Further, we shouldn't re-read the PMD/PUD value for our warning, the
primary purpose of the VM_WARN_ON_ONCE() is to find spurious use of
pmd_leaf()/pud_leaf() without CONFIG_PGTABLE_HAS_HUGE_LEAVES.

As a side note, we are currently not implementing FW_MIGRATION support for
PUD migration entries, which likely should exist due to hugetlb. Add a
TODO so this won't fall through the cracks if more FW_MIGRATION users get
added.

Was able to write a quick reproducer and verify that the issue no longer triggers with this fix.
