Being a programmer, a good one, is a myth. Programming is new and quite broad to put down what makes a great programmer and it will be a hot topic in the future. I've been searching a book to define and to reflect what I am atm, and I realise this book has covered most of my questions. In the end of the day, being a programmer is not about locking yourself in a dark room and hacking, it is about how you go about to solve the problem (it could be non-technical related problem). You learn to be pragmatic and practical, you learn to be a good problem solver, and to me that what makes a great programmer.
