docker-compose down cacti doesn't work anymore

I've launched the docker-compose down and after up and the cacti has not worked anymore. Have you ever seen that issue?

Ah thank you for your compose file, I believe I see the issue here.

docker-compose down - command will stop your containers, but it also removes the stopped containers as well as any networks that were created.

docker-compose stop - command will stop your containers, but it won’t remove them.

The issue here is related to the volume setting. On cacti we have set the entire /cacti on your local machine so rrd and cacti versions will persist. However MySQL is not using any volumes and essentially deleting the database on docker-compose down.

When you try to start a new instance the container will see the lock file we install within the /cacti directly and assume mysql/cacti does not need to be re-installed. It appears this error is due to a missing volume statement in my cacti_single_install.yml example.

On your machine (this would remove all historical data, unfortunately hosts and settings are stored in the database and would not be recoverable in this state).

1. Remove old cacti files
   Delete the folder: /Users/edualfaia/docker/cacti

2. Add a volume command in your db section

    volumes:
      - /Users/edualfaia/docker/mysql:/var/lib/mysql

3. Then kick it off, the instance should persist. If you did take a backup you should be able to restore it at this time.

I will get those example files updated to include this - good catch!

Ok 2 changes coming in this upcoming branch merge

1. Always copy cacti.conf httpd configuration if it does not exist. On non-new installations where someone created a local volume for /cacti this file would not copy over and break the web-server on boot.

2. Update docker-compose file examples to use volumes instead of storing data on the local host. These are not deleted by default on docker-compose down. The -v command would be required on a down statement to remove them.

After adding the mysql volume (or using the non local volumes) please be sure to pull the latest version to obtain the start.sh changes required. Please let me know if you have any issues (^_^)
