Portrait pictures cropped to square dimensions?

When I convert a portrait jpg to heic using heif-enc.exe it is cropped to square dimensions.

Source: 3264 x 4912
Dest: 3264 x 3264

How can I keep the original dimensions?

Sounds strange. Which version? Please copy the output of heif-enc --version.

Compiling a newer version under Windows failed, so I'm stuck with the old one.

imho, the easiest way even to not an expert to build libheif for windows is to use msys2

You know when you ask something specific in a forum and you get a totally unrelated suggestion as an answer? Well, I tried msys2, it WAS easy and the original probem was fixed with the newest version. Thank You!
