- Familiarize yourself with our core platform, Tilburg Science Hub. We provide tutorials, building blocks ("code snippets"), and examples so that researchers and students can professionalize their collaboration on empirical research projects. Why is that? Well, we realized that while much of the statistical methods that we commonly use are properly documented, there is not so much clarity about how we can work together efficiently. Tilburg Science Hub is trying to fill that void! ➡️ Take a tour of the platform now!
- In all that you do when working on projects, think about how you could contribute tutorials, building blocks ("code snippets"), or examples to our platform. ➡️ Read our contribution guide now.
- Of course, we were not the first to think carefully about research efficiency. In fact, much of what we do at Tilburg Science Hub is inspired by Code and Data for the Social Sciences: A Practitioner's Guide and Our path to better science in less time using open data science tools. ➡️ Make sure to read both! *Code and Data, Path to better science.
- You're not alone! Actually, you've just joined an agile research team. We don't expect you to work in isolation, but encourage you to reach out to one another, ask for feedback, or tag each other on issues.
- A good place to start is to meet your colleagues (in person, or on Zoom). Set up short meetings to introduce yourself to the Tilburg Science Hub team and the wider Tilburg Science Hub "family".
- While you may be asked to work on an issue first, you can involve other members of the lab to help you solve it. Just tag members on the relevant GitHub issue.
- Finally, you probably still need to develop your coding and collaboration skills before you can fully enjoy your work. Good places to start are:
- The course "Data Preparation and Workflow Management" - it's available open access, but you can also audit the course twice a year.
