Hi,
I'm trying to get a french version (translation) of the report tool but, using wcag2json, I only get through to 1.3.3 of the guidelines... I guess it's a 'problem' in the french version of the wcag 2.0? Am I right? How can I fix this?

Also, did anyone already did a french translation of the wcag-em-report-tool?
(I'm not using the RGAA of France, since I'm french Canadian)

Thank you

Hey @ericporlier ,

Are you using the script mentioned in docs/translation.md? This script is only applicable to wcag 2.0 translations. If the script stops executing at 1.3.3 then this is an issue with the script and/or... the markup of the French translation. I can see that the 3 following principles are placed outside the div the first principle is contained in which is causing the script to see only 1 principle. I think moving those div2's inside the first div1 will fix your issue.
WRAPPING UP:

  • Run the script with fr argument npm run scrape fr
  • Fix the html, move other 3 principles into the container of the first one
  • Run the script again and json is ready.

To create a French translation of the wcag 2.1 in json, the easiest way for this is to copy the criteria wcag (2.1) version from wcag2-en.json and feed each criterion to google's translate service. Then add these criteria to the generated French translation from the script.

I see there is an intention to create an official translation of the wcag 2.1 in French. If that working group is using the original contents of w3c's wcag repository then it will be possible to generate the json there with an Ant (XML) script. Worked really well for the Dutch translation. For information on that translation you should check: https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/w3c-translators/2018AprJun/0014.html

As for:

did anyone already did a french translation of the wcag-em-report-tool?

No. Your effort will be greatly appreciated 😄

I have the EN 301 549 (2018) translated to French so you can pull the WCAG 2.1 french translations from there - send me a message.

Hi, I managed to have a running french translation on my locale machine, but I don't know how to share it with the project. I don't know how Github works, unfortunately. Could you help?
BTW, I've add a variable for the 'root' of the links used to get to 'Understanding' in each criteria.

Thank you @ericporlier -- we are working on an updated version that is easier to translate and we hope to have this ready quite soon (here is a preview). I'll provide further guidance as soon as the new version is ready.
