Задумывалось, как пояснение к переводу. В этом словарике так к примеру описан float[1], almost standards mode, pagination[2]. Типа не «внешний размер, обусловленный чем-то», а «внешний размер, а это такая штука, которая обусловлена тем-то и тем-то». Чувствуется разница? Как по мне, изменение меняет смысл фразы немного. Я бы не менял. Либо добавил бы точку с запятой после «внешний размер», чтобы сильно два размера глаза не резали.

Считаю, что есть разница, между «внешний размер, обусловленный чем-то» и «внешний размер, а это такая штука, которая обусловлена тем-то и тем-то». Привёл примеры уже существующих в статье определений, где используется именно такой стиль.
