Even though this is a Summary section a little more detail on what this is trying to achieve would be nice. Instead of saying "unlock some usecases" it could be something like "allow the ability to add imports to a markdown file".

I think the general idea sounds reasonable. Not sure about the exact API shape; will be interested in discussing on a call.
