Sorry, but it looks like you didn't fully read/get my message on matrix.

We actually decided to not do backports anymore, but just release current main in these cases. So 2.7.0 here
(Except maybe critical bugfixes/security if there were already breaking things merged)

There should not be a 2.6.1 release, but rather just 2.7.0. There was nothing breaking merged until now so updating to 2.7.0 should not be a problem.

But yes, if we merge this and manually create a tag it should work.

I'm for releasing a v2.6.1 now as the v2.7.0 do have a lot of new changes and we are still merging things atm @qwerty287

I wouldn't say "a lot of new changes". Yes, some new features, but nothing really big and everything seems to work flawlessly.
