The transfer layer is the part of the system that manages the integrity of the network.

The bus timing parameters for the CAN controller IC that determine operation of the transfer layer are determined by the contents of the bus configuration and timing registers, that are set in software during initialization of the CAN controller IC. The contents of these registers shall be determined based upon the parameters discussed in this section.

The base CAN protocol we use here is 2.0B

  1. Bus Speed General System Requirements The nominal bus speed shall be 1 Mbps.

  2. Bit Sampling – Timing The sample point shall be set to occur at 80% of the bit interval.
