I have an alternate suggestion of how to fix this in the short term. Julia 1.7 is tracking Downloads 1.5.x. In other words, the We could just switch Julia master to track Downloads 1.5.x for now. |

The tests above that which use the easy hook mechanism are fixed in a different way: for those I made the hook disable both host and peer verification, which should fix the tests for any bad host including when the server sends the wrong host name. Reverts #151
I believe that #151 broke the Pkg tests on
Pkg#master. See JuliaLang/Pkg.jl#2802 for more discussion.Therefore, I propose that we revert #151 now, so we can get the Pkg tests passing again. And then we can reland a fixed version of #151 in the future.
