Cloud computing using Microsoft Azure
Microsoft Research is delighted to donate free 90 day Microsoft Azure passes for all participants in the HackDay to use the cloud for websites, mobile applications, virtual machines, storage and more. Microsoft Azure is accredited for UK Government OFFICIAL data, which includes Personal information which falls under the protection of the Data Protection Act (1998) (which includes, for example, data such as health records).. As part of this programme we are offering Microsoft Azure Awards for research projects to develop, deploy and test ideas on the cloud. We offer 12 month awards of up to 180,000 compute core hours and 20TB f cloud storage each, worth around £25,000 GBPs. We currently support over 300 projects worldwide, and are keen to see many more from the research software engineering community.
The next deadline is 15th October 2014, and then every two months. We turnaround proposal decisions in a couple of weeks, so successful applicants can be up and running within about a month of applying.
