I have added some new code to Boardcustomizer and Bigboard, the changes in the pull request allow for a new compact mode that when toggled allows you to go from this:

I have already added what is needed to Bigboard: TimoStahl/kanboard_plugin_bigboard#38
And I have submitted a pull request for Boardcustomizer: TimoStahl/kanboard_plugin_boardcustomizer#6
